The Taesea team is deeply passionate about all things music-related, reflected in their work when they combine it with illustration.
Recently, the studio was approached by a heavy metal band called Zombie Power Tank to design the cover for their debut album, which would help them stand out and appeal to their growing fanbase.
The band wanted an illustrative and fun style reminiscent of the 1980s. The team sketched several designs, collaboratively incorporating elements of the band’s ideas. The final album cover artwork combines all the ideas and depicts a striking and intense image fitting for a heavy metal band named “Zombie Power Tank.”
The image portrays a menacing, green-skinned zombie at the forefront, with vivid red eyes and a battle-ready attitude. The zombie operates a large tank, suggesting a blend of heavy machinery and undead force. The tank appears rugged and battle-worn, with visible scratches and blood splatters, reinforcing the aggressive and unstoppable nature of the band’s theme. The colour scheme of black, green, and red creates a classic horror and heavy metal aesthetic.
The bold, hand-drawn typography features sharp, slanted letters, giving off a dynamic and edgy vibe. The lettering contrasts red and white, which stands out against the dark background.
The illustrations were created using an iPad Pro running Procreate. This allowed the team to work efficiently back and forth online between the studio and the band while maintaining high-quality imagery and version control. Throughout the process, the imagery was streamed live to give the band direct input while the artwork was being created.
After the band approved the album artwork, Taesea was asked to produce designs for merchandise and a website. The album is expected to be available by the end of September 2024.
