Talented British artist Rosie Emerson has announced an upcoming solo exhibition, “When Other Worlds Whisper,” presented by Smithson Projects.
Rosie Emerson, a renowned experimental printmaker based in Sussex, invites visitors to explore her latest work that delves into the unseen realms of our world.
Drawing inspiration from the rich history of theatre, the intricacies of ecology, and the luxury of aristocracy, Emerson’s work creates an otherworldly experience that captivates and intrigues. Through innovative techniques such as photopolymer etching, monoprint, and cyanotype, she masterfully intertwines traditional printmaking with natural materials and hand-finished details, resulting in a truly unique aesthetic.
“When Other Worlds Whisper” is a journey into hidden dimensions. Emerson uses her theatrical flair to reveal the secrets of extravagant grottos, the glitz of microscopic life, and the mysterious communication of coral. During the exhibition, visitors will also have the exclusive opportunity to visit Emerson’s upstairs studio, offering a behind-the-scenes look into her creative process.
Emerson’s work has recently graced the pages of Artists & Illustrators magazine and Harper’s Bazaar, with past features in Vogue, AnOther Magazine, and The Sunday Times Style. Her recent commissions include The Dorchester in London and Raffles in Boston. In 2023, she was shortlisted for the prestigious Young Masters Art Prize.
All works on display will be available for acquisition through Smithson Projects.
Rosie commented, “Focusing on this solo show has given me the space and freedom to experiment with new materials and processes and to lose myself in research which allowed me to uncover the most magical hidden worlds.”
